The 2 days Rwanda gorilla tour enables you explore Volcanoes National Park particularly for gorilla trekking. You are allowed to spend an hour with the endangered gorillas counted from the time you meet the gorillas. Observe how gorillas play and socialise just like human beings. You will be amazed by how the Silverback gorilla oversees his family members, the juveniles play tirelessly while adult females take care of the little babies. You are reminded to the adhere to the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking before and after meeting the endangered gorillas. These include keeping a distance of 7 meters away, don’t look direct in the eyes of the gorilla, do not use flash light camera, do not eat/drink and smoke in the presence of the gorillas among other rules.
In addition to the gorillas, a trek through Volcanoes Park offers you chance to meet other wild animals such as golden monkeys, colobus monkeys, African Buffalo, Chimpanzees and Forests. If you love birds, Volcanoes Park also shelters over 200 bird species some of which ar not found anywhere else in Rwanda and the whole of Africa. Mountaineering to the summit of Mt Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke on the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo is another interesting activity to do in VNP. Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes NP Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Ruhengeri. Have a Kigali city tour visiting the genocide memorial, local markets and other places of interest. Later transfer to Volcanoes National Park arriving early enough for a rest at your Lodge. The drive time from Kigali to Volcanoes Park is roughly 3 hours via rolling hills, farms, towns and local communities. The gorilla park is the most easy to reach gorilla destination in Africa, one of the reasons why it’s popular or short time visitors. Day 2: Gorilla Trek & Departure On this most anticipated day you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines of gorilla trekking. You will also be registered,grouped together and allocated a gorilla family to visit. The real trek to meet mountain gorillas begins at 8″00-am and can last up to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. The search for gorillas up and down hill is strenuous but the magical feeling of meeting gorillas is worth the energy. Hike for 2 to 6 hours and once you get to the gorillas stay in their presence for an hour and later return for a transfer back to Kigali.
