The 4 Days safari entail 2 gorilla treks to meet up with two different gorilla families in different regions. Enjoy a face to face encounter with the 2 of the 17 habituated gorilla families rewarding you with a once in a lifetime experience. The gorilla families in Bwindi include Habinyanja, Nkuringo, Nshongi, Rushegura, Mubare, Katwe, Kutu, Rwigi, Oruzogo, Bweza, Busingye, Kyaguliro, Bitukura, Mishaya and Kahungye gorilla family. Bwindi Forest Park is split into four regions which are Ruhija in the east, Buhoma in the north, Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south. You will then trek in any two regions for better comparisons and experience. The 4 Days double gorilla safari in Bwindi also entails visiting batwa and bakiga local communities for a cultural experience. The batwa pygmies will demonstrate their traditional forest life before they were evicted from the gorilla park. Moreseo, traditional kikiga dance and songs will be performed for entertainment. You can take sport in the dances and any other local activity (brewing local beer babysitting, grinding sorghum and peeling) which make you a part of the community.
Bwindi also offers you the experimental gorilla habituation experience which allow you to spend four hours with the endangered gorillas. The experience only takes place in Rushaga sector and two gorilla families are apparently undergoing training. A single gorilla trekking permit costs $750 for an hour while the four hour habituation permit costs $1500. However, it’s all worth it.In addition to gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park shelters Forest Elephants, wild chimpanzees, golden cats, Giant Forest hogs, duikers, African buffalos and colobus monkeys among others.
For birding travelers, Bwindi Forest is home to over 350 bird species 23 of which are endemic to the albertine region. The dry season between June and August is the best time for birding watching in Bwindi Forest while November to April is best for seeing migratory birds. The notable birds you will see in Bwindi Forest Crowned Hornbill, African Green Pigeon, Giant Kingfisher, African Harrier Hawk, Black bee eater, Mountain masked apalis, African broadbill, Black faced warbler and mountain masked apalis among others

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
In the morning, you will drive southwest to Bwindi National park in Uganda, with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Continue with the scenic drive to Kabale town, also known as the Switzerland of Africa. Later transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/ Silverback Lodge (Mid range)/Buhoma community bandas (Budget).
Day 2: First Gorilla tracking and community walk.
In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Proceed for the memorable adventure in the forest, gorilla trekking may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the animals. Meet and stay with the animals for a maximum of one hour, then descend to the park headquarters and then to your Lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you may go for community walk in the nearby Batwa community, where you will be entertained and given tales of their unique culture. Dinner and overnight at your hotel (Day 1)
Day 3: Second Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest
On this day, following the same procedure like on the first gorilla tracking adventure, you will follow a different gorilla group, different from the one tracked on the previous day. On return from the tracking, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the world’s fresh water lake, free of Bilharzia, where you will have dinner and overnight at Acadia cottages/Bunyonyi overland camp.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala.
In the morning after your breakfast, you will enjoy a boat ride along the lake and rotate around the many islands on the lake and have a scenic view of the well-terraced hills around the lake. Later set off for your journey back to Kampala with stopovers for photography and lunch reaching late in the afternoon, and you will be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight or to the airport for your departure flight.
