Covid19 SOPS For Gorilla Safaris

*Covid 19 SPOS for all Passengers traveling to Rwanda or Uganda*

  1. Before boarding your plane, you will be required to show your covid 19 negative test results which should be valid for not more than 72hrs (applies for both Rwanda and Uganda)
  1. Also you are supposed to fill a locator form (link below) which you will also be asked before boarding (failure to have it, you will be denied boarding)

  1. Once you arrive in Kigali, you will take another covid 19 test and be in self quarantine at any of the chosen hotels in Kigali for 24hrs as you wait for your covid 19 test results

You will then start your tour after your results have returned and you are proved negative

  1. These results expire every after 72hrs, hence if your tour is still going on, you will need another test to allow you enter any other park or do any other activity after 72hrs of your test. (This applies to Rwanda only, not Uganda)
  1. Before departure from Rwanda or Uganda, you need to do another covid 19 test not more than 72hrs before your departure as you will be required to present your results before boarding your departure flight.

6. While on your tour, you are advised to carry your masks and maintain social distance whenever you are in the public

    Gorilla trekking

    Travelling to track mountain gorillas is at present the most done activity attracting a high number of travelers to Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Travelling to see mountain gorillas in the wild is once-in-a-lifetime experience that most travelers yearn to do again and again. The gentle ginas live in the jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park and the Virunga conservation area shared by Volcanoes, Virunga, and Mgahinga gorilla national parks in Rwanda, Congo and Uganda respectivey. Every traveler must have a valid gorilla ticket as a pass to trek gorillas. A single gorilla permit costs $1500 in Rwanda, $600 in Uganda and $450 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Golden monkeys are one of the critically endangered monkey species surviving in the jungles of Mgahinga gorilla and Volcanoes national parks in Uganda and Rwanda respectively. Interestingly, golden monkeys cost relatively low $100 including the park entrance fee.

Chimpanzees are the closest relative to human beings sharing over 99.8% of human genes whose human like characters exceptional creatures. Chimpanzee tours in Uganda are done in Kibale forest national park, karinzu forest, Budongo forest, and Kyambura gorge while in Rwanda, Chimpanzees are trekked inNyungwe forest national park southwestern part of the region. Like in gorilla tours, chimpanzee trekking requires one to have a permit acquired from respective government bodies (Uganda Wildlife Authority in Uganda and Rwanda Development board in Rwanda.
