Packing List to Rwanda – What to Carry

Travelers to Rwanda are advised to carry the following:

  • – Medical kit including antibiotics for intestinal problems and  for upper respiratory ailments, antibiotic drops for eyes,  Imodium for diarrhea, pain reliever, antiseptic cream, sty ointment, antihistamine for stings, Lancôme for insect bites, band aids, antibiotic ointment, antacid, cold medicine and thermometer.
  • – Anti-malaria medication of your choice.
  • – Hand Sanitizer, where you can keep it handy.
  • – Lip balm.
  • – Ear plugs
  • – Saline solution for eyes
  • – Insect Repellent
  • – Sun hat
  • – Sun glasses
  • – A good sunscreen
  • – Travel sewing kit with a few rubber bands and safety pins
  • – Pocket knife, with corkscrew, packed in check-in luggage
  • – Personal stash of toilet paper, Kleenex and handy wipes
  • – soap powder for hand washes
  • – Book to read, in cases  of delays
  • – batteries , film and memory cards for digital cameras
  • – Plug adaptors for cameras. African outlets have three square pins or two round pins like those in Britain – Electricity is 230 V.
  • – A good flashlight and supply of batteries and spare bulbs
  • – Money pouch for waist or around neck
  • – Excellent binoculars
  • – Short sleeve shirts & T-shirts
  • – A pair of long shorts (put on long pants for gorilla trekking)
  • – Light weight fleece for cooler mornings
  • – Several Ziploc plastic bags and Duffel bag
  • – Sturdy runners or rubber boots  such as Tevas or Keenesare
  • – A pocket calculator for bargaining
  • – Copies of passport, tickets and any credit cards for your trip. Leave some copies at home where someone has access to them  and send another copy to your e-mail addresses
