12 Days Rwanda & Uganda Wildlife Safari

Book a 12 Days Rwanda Uganda safari to explore the beauty of these two countries on a single trip.You will do a variety of interesting adventurous and relaxed activities in the top parks of Rwanda and Uganda guided by Africa Adventure Safaris, your reliable travel agent. While in Rwanda, visit Volcanoes National park, home to 350 mountain gorillas habituated into 10 gorilla families. The trip offers you opportunity to trek one of these families (Hirwa, Umubano, Agashya, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Ugenda, Pablo, Titus and Susa A) rewarding you with you best wildlife experience in the world. You will also visit the twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo for cold breezes and fresh air. Still in Volcanoes, take part in golden monkey trekking and Dian Fossey graveyard hike to make a complete package. A visit to the Gorillas Guardian Village (Iby'iwacu cultural village) for a cultural experience to learn the traditions, customs, beliefs and norms of Rwanda people. You will also visit Lake Kivu for a boat ride and scenic viewing. You will then cross to Uganda headed to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district.

In Uganda, you will visit Queen Elizabeth National park for game viewing experience and a boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Located in western Uganda, Queen Elizabeth is Uganda's second largest park wich shelters a high number of grazers and predators. Ishasha sector in southern region of QENP is home to the rare  tree climbing lions  while kasenyi plains offer best game viewing experience. Visit chimpanzees in the underground  forest of Kyambura gorge which also shelters a variety of colobus monkeys and birds. Queen elizabeth Park also entails crater lakes such as Kawet for salt mining, Munyanyange  for flamingos, Nyamunuka which  has healing waters and Lake Bunyampaka among others. The 12 Days safari will also take you to  Kibale Forest National Park  for lifetime chimpanzee trekking experience. Also known as the "Primates capital of Africa" Kibale Forest shelters the highest chimpanzee population in Africa and 12 other primates. You will also go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland to explore the natural environment. The last destination on this 12 days trip is Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest and oldest park. Enjoy guided game viewing experience in the delta region, boat cruising to the bottom of the falls and chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On reaching the airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will transfer you to Kigali for dinner. Time allowing, you may do a city tour in Kigali city and visit the Gisozi genocide sites, local markets, Kings's palace among other places. Dinner and overnight stay at Kigali serena hotel /Flame Tree Village/ Garr hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National park - Visit Twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo
In the morning at 9:00am, you will be picked from the hotel by the guide/driver representing our company, who will take you for a city tour. You will visit the genocide memorial museum, the first house, the national museum among others. After lunch in Kigali, you will drive to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla view Lodge (Luxury)/La Palme Hotel (Deluxe)/Kinigi guest house (Budget).

Day 3: Gorilla tracking adventure and Ibyiwacu Cultural Experience.
In the morning, you will go to the park headquarters by 8:30am with parked lunch for briefing before you embark on the memorable adventure in the forest. You will be back by mid day-2:00pm. Have refreshments at hotel/lunch and later set off for Ib’iwachu Cultural Village – get drawn into the authentic Kinyarwanda cultural practices. Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking / Dian Fossey Hike - Transfer to Lake Kivu.
In the morning, you will go to the park headquarters by 8:30am with parked lunch for briefing before you embark on the memorable adventure in the forest. You will be back by mid day-2:00pm. Visitors can opt to hike to the Dian Fossey tomb. Return to your hotel for lunch and refreshments and set off for Lake Kivu where you will relax at along the lake shores. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (Luxury)/ Palm gardens resort (Deluxe)/ Paradise marahide (Budget).

Day 5: Boat Ride & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
In the morning, you will go on a boat ride along Lake Kivu where you will explore the small island on the lake. Lake Kivu is the largest fresh water lake in Rwanda. Later have an early lunch and set off for Uganda, crossing via Chanika boarder. Dinner and overnight at Birdnest/ Bunyonyi Resort.

Day 6: Transfer to queen Elizabeth National park in Uganda.

Early morning, you will have your breakfast and set off to QENP by 7:30am. You will drive slowly via Ruhija reaching Ishasha sector by 11:00am to have game drives where you may be opportune to see the tree climbing lions. Continue to QENP reaching early enough for lunch at Mweya safari Lodge. After lunch, you will enjoy a boat cruise at 4pm along the Kazinga channel where you will see lots of bird species, crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, and elephants among others. Embark to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay at Kyambura game lodge (Luxury)/Ihamba Lodge (Deluxe)/Kingfisher lodge (Budget).

Day 7: Morning game drives and transfer to Kibale national park.
In the morning, you will go for game drives, where you will see games like lions, bush bucks, antelopes, elephants, water hogs among others. Go back to the hotel for a late breakfast, and relax at the pool side as you wait for your lunch. After lunch, set off to Kibale national park, home of over 13 primate species. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge (Luxury)/Mountains of the moon hotel (Deluxe)/Chimps nest lodge (Budget).

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary.
Chimps trackingIn the morning, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest National Park, where you will stay until mid day. You will have lunch at Chimps nest lodge and in the afternoon, go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary, where you will encounter a variety of birds and animals. You later drive back to Fort Portal, and if still early and strong, you may visit the “Amabeere ganyina Mwiru” and the king’s palace. Dinner and overnight stay (Day 4).

Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park.

Have an early breakfast at hotel and pick up by our company tour guide – hit the road to Masindi where the magnificent Murchison Falls Park is situated, en-route visit to Zziwa Rhino sanctuary and lunch in Masindi town. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge / Murchison River lodge / Red chilli rest Camp.

Day 10: Game drive and Fantastic boat cruise
Wake up early for a cup of coffee / tea and embark on a morning game drive in search for early raisers as well as predators returning to their hideouts. During this game drive, expect an encounter with the African lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Antelopes and Giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast as we wait for lunch.

Gather your strength after lunch for a fantastic launch cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls. This is a birders paradise with over 450 species, huge crocodiles, Hippos and Elephants basking on the shores. Overnight at Paraa Lodge /Murchison Lodge or Red chilli camp.

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking – Kampala

Go for Chimpanzee tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi forest reserve after breakfast. The sounds of the chimps carry through the forest, so approaching and watching these creatures in their natural habitat is a fantastic wildlife viewing experience. After, you will transfer back to Kampala reaching in the evening for dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel (Luxury)/Cassia Lodge (Deluxe)/Landmark view Hotel (Budget).

Day 12: City Tour and Departure.
In case your departure flight is in the evening, you will have a morning city tour around Kampala, where you will visit the Namugongo Shrines, where the Uganda martyrs were burnt alive for refusing to denounce their Christian faith, the National museum, bahai temple, Gadafhi Mosque, the local markets, Kasubi tombs among others. In the afternoon, transfer to Entebbe airport for your departure flight. End of Safari.
