3 Days Rwanda Double Gorilla Tour – 2 Gorilla Treks

Book a 3 Days Rwanda double gorilla trek to visit two different gorilla groups in Volcanoes National park. You will spend an hour with each gorilla family on different days offering you a lifetime experience. Visit 2 of the 10 habituated gorilla families (Sabyinyo, Hirwa. Karisimbi, Agashya, Umubano, Kwitonda, Susa A, Pablo, Amahoro and Titus) inhabited in Volcanoes National park located in north western province of Rwanda. The bamboo forest is a premier gorilla trekking destination in the Virunga conservation area compared to the other parks (Mgahinga and Virunga) in the same area.

Volcanoes Park Rwanda is second to Bwindi forest in sheltering the high number of gorillas. The park is also home to the endangered golden monkeys, colobus monkeys, forest elephants, African Buffalos and wild chimpanzees. The park is also home to over 180 birds which make it a haven for birders. Some notable birds include Ruwenzori Turaco, Black crowned waxbill, Common stonechat, Brown necked parrot, Dusky turtle dove, and African long eared Owl. The dry season between june to August is the best time for bird watching in Volcanoes National park.

You can also take part in volcano hiking to Mt Karisimbi and Mt Bisoke located on the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Visit the Gorillas Guardians Village to learn and experience Tanda;s traditions and norms. ARwanda cultural tour is a complement to gorilla trekking experience in VNP.

Detailed Itinerary

Day1: Arrival, Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes national park
Upon arrival, you will meet our driver guide and go for a city tour in Kigali. Here you will visit different tourism spots within Kigali like the Kigali genocide memorial center, Kigali convention center, kings palace and also visit some local markets for shopping if you want. Later, transfer to Volcanoes national park for an overnight at Davinci Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 2: 1st Gorilla trekking & Cultural Visit
Rwanda-gorilla-safarisWake up early, have breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters in kinigi for a pre trekking briefing. There after hike into the jingle along with your packed lunch and armed park ranger. The time to spend in the jungle may as short as 30 minutes t a couple of hours depending on the location of mountain gorillas. Spend an hour with gorillas and transfer back for late lunch and refreshment. In the evening, you will visit ibyiwacu community village to interact with local people, Rwanda culture and traditions. Dinner and over night at the lodge (Day 1)


Day 3:2nd Gorilla trekking and Departure

Have an early morning breakfast and transfer for a 2nd gorilla trekking. Endeavor to ask for a different gorilla family from the one you trekked on the previous day. In the evening, transfer to Kigali airport for your return flight.
